IDfunction Production now supports LEGIC neon-on-card

evolutionID has expanded the capabilities of IDfunction Production with support for LEGIC neon-on-card, including activation of the LEGIC neon applet. Available in the latest release, this integration further expands the range of credential technologies supported by the software.

As organizations modernize their access control systems, card production needs to accommodate both established technologies and newer credential standards. What's new with LEGIC neon-on-card?

LEGIC neon-on-card is an applet that brings LEGIC's latest neon technology to compatible processor smartcards. It combines advanced cryptographic security with the flexibility to use the same credential technology across cards and smartphones.

Key capabilities include:

• Customer-controlled cryptographic keys: Keys are securely managed through LEGIC Orbit, remain invisible even to system operators, and can be replaced when needed.
• One technology for cards and smartphones: LEGIC neon-on-card and neon on smartphones can use the same neon file names and application keys, enabling consistent credential technology across both formats.
• Multiple applications on one card: Up to 32 KB of storage supports multiple applications, each with its own cryptographic keys.
• Phased migration: neon technology can be introduced alongside existing credential standards, allowing organizations to transition gradually rather than replacing everything at once.

These capabilities give organizations greater flexibility when introducing new credential technologies while continuing to support their existing access environments.

With the addition of LEGIC neon-on-card, IDfunction Production supports an extensive range of credential technologies, including the LEGIC family from prime and advant to neon-on-card, the MIFARE family from Classic to DESFire EV3, and low-frequency (125 kHz) technologies.

Rather than requiring separate production processes for different credential types, IDfunction Production brings card design, data management, encoding, and printing together in one software environment.
