ID-MANAGEMENT REPORT
In close collaboration with its long-standing system partner Bosch Energy and Building Solutions, evolutionID has fundamentally simplified and streamlined ID card production and many other functions at a major insurance company with its ID management system IDfunction.
About LVM Insurance
With more than 3.7 million customers, over 4 billion Euros in premium income, and 21.4 billion Euros in capital investments, LVM is among the top 20 insurance companies in Germany.
"We employ around 3,900 people at our corporate headquarters in Münster alone," explains Michael König at LVM Insurance. "The time required for HR administrative processes, for example, creating a passport photo for an employee ID card, must therefore be multiplied by 3900 each time. It quickly becomes clear why we were looking for an efficient solution in this area."
The Solution: IDfunction with Bosch MATRIX Integration
LVM's decision-makers found what they were looking for at evolutionID. Our ID management system IDfunction demonstrates its strengths, not least in its integration into existing systems. It was therefore no problem to connect IDfunction to the MATRIX access management system – without having to change anything in the Bosch solution. All captured data is automatically synchronized between the systems within a few seconds.
Image Capture and ID Card Production
Once integrated into the system, IDfunction can unleash its strengths in many areas. Employee images are now conveniently and efficiently captured using AI-powered facial recognition, used for ID card production, and transferred to other systems.
"Corporate IT is, of course, always an organically grown structure," explains Stefan Häckel. "To avoid starting from scratch again after the transition, it was particularly important for us that existing images could be seamlessly transferred and reused without limitations."
Seamless Migration and Ongoing Production
For the highly flexible ID management system IDfunction Production this was no more of a problem than the continued use of an existing stock of pre-coded ID cards for Mifare DESFire card encoding. The new ID cards are printed in various designs, single-sided or double-sided, entirely according to customer requirements.
Once the stock of pre-coded ID cards is depleted, production continues seamlessly with IDfunction. IDfunction then applies all the necessary encoding. IDfunction also manages the number ranges and provides the interface for other systems. For example, LVM employees can use their ID cards for various FollowMe-Printing tasks via a central print server. Printers used in companies.
"evolutionID constructively and pragmatically solved the problems with inventory integration, UID conversions, and interfaces to other systems and applications. IDfunction runs smoothly in conjunction with the proven Bosch MATRIX access control system and will quickly pay for itself through its rationalization functions."

About us
For more than two decades, evolutionID has helped organizations bring clarity and control to identity and access. We focus on what matters most: secure, reliable processes that are simple to operate and built to last.
We bring together Physical Identity & Access Management (PIAM), card and employee management, and RFID‑supported workflows into one coherent approach. Our modular building blocks allow identity and access systems to adapt over time—without disrupting what already works. The result is less complexity, more transparency, and greater confidence in everyday operations.
As a long‑term partner, we guide our customers step by step—from analysis and architecture to implementation, migration, and ongoing support. With teams in Munich, Bonn, and Frankfurt, we work closely with organizations across the DACH region to create access infrastructures that stay secure, stable, and ready for what comes next.
